The schools closed in Ghana, Mali and Senegal in March too, just like in so many countries around the world. But there the schools and the children have neither the means nor the money for distance learning. And as the teachers cannot teach, they have no income.

But we would like to change that!

The Africa Another Way Charity Run is a community fundraising event centered on a team of runners who run around Lake Balaton in 8 days between 13 and 22 October 2020. The objective of the charity run is to raise money so that the children continue to learn from home.

Each day the team will run 24km (so more than ½ a marathon!) and in total a distance of 200km. Each day the team will run twice, starting at 9am in the morning and at around 4pm in the afternoon. We will start at the south side of Balaton, in Siófok.

In case you would like to attend the run here are the various stages. Every morning the starting point is a school whereas in the afternoon it will be the center of the community.

Another team, a team of presenters will tour the schools around Lake Balaton and talk about the lives of African children.

The life of the children in the African slums is hopeless unless they study and through education they can get out of the vicious circle of poverty. Here education, going to school is a privilege, distance learning is impossible in the absence of unknown concepts and tools.

The purpose of the fundraising is to provide the SCHOOLS and the 500 CHILDREN who attend the schools with the items needed for distance learning: paper, pen, pencil, booklet, book, slate, chalk for the children, and a lower priced photocopier for the schools or money for making photocopies and some income for the teachers.

With your support, they can continue to study ANOTHER WAY!

  • 3 EUR is enough for a child's pencils and pens on a slate board with chalk

  • 6 EUR covers for the booklets to write in, as well as the photocopier paper and photocopies on which they get the tasks

  • 15 EUR is the price of textbooks and other school equipment (including sanitizers)

  • 30 EUR is a teacher's one-month long-distance education salary

  • 210 EUR is enough for a photocopier that can be used all year round to copy the curriculum (children do not have textbooks as parents can't afford it)

For individuals:

You can donate an amount for every kilometer we run. The more you give per km, the better we can support the children.

For companies:

Companies have a great opportunity to sponsor this event. Not only can they choose to invite their employees to donate (as individuals) but they can also donate a one-time amount. Companies who donate more then 120,000 HUF will have their logo on our website for 12 months.

We aim to collect 1.500 EUR, which is 3 EUR per child.
