Thelma Darko

Thelma is 10 years old and goes to 4th grade. She has a younger sister and a brother who goes to Newill Academy too. Her father is a driver, but as he had an accident last year, he is at home with the children. They live in a building with other families in town. They have access to electricity and water. Thelma lives very far from the school, so she makes sure to pay the bus fee, but she is behind with payment of the food and the tuition fees. When we ask her to open her school bag for us, we find and empty plastic bottle and 2 pencils in it. She is good in English and wants to be a nurse when she grows up. After school she helps her toddler sister and helps mother. She would like to have books to read.
