Born in 2010, third-grader Oumou lives in her father's extended family with her mother and a little sister. Her father went to Gabon, from where he sent money for a while, but now he hasn't had anything for quite some time, so the family is supported by the others. Her mother went to school and speaks French. Notebooks with 8/10 grades and a French book come out of a small, torn black backpack. They eat once a day, at noon. The little girl's favorite subject is math, there is a blackboard in the yard, she practices on it. She usually helps with washing dishes, and when she has time she likes to go to a nearby arcade. She really wants to play on playstation. But her only wish is to have a nice backpack. Tuition fees are difficult to pay, and payments are often missed.
