This first grader little girl was born in 2013, and has seven siblings living in Segou, 250 km from Bamako. Minata was brought to Bamako by on of her sisters to help her and to not be so alone in her husband's family. The parents did not go to school. Often they cannot pay the tuition fees, then everything is paid by the sister’s husband. Food is served on the table once a day. Minata loves to read, with an average of 7.33 / 10 she is the 2nd best student in her class. She helps her sister with washing and cleaning. In her spare time, she goes to tailoring workshops with her girlfriends and collects leftovers: they make doll clothes out of it - in the yard where they live, one of the girls has a doll. Minata really wants to learn to sew. She is a calm, trouble-free, obedient child. She would love to have a notebook, books and a doll.
