Mikel Odame Amoah

Mikel is 10 years old, starting Grade 5 in September. He is raised in a family with three children; he has an older sister and a younger brother. The mother has an administrative job at an office; the father works in a printshop. Mikel likes school, he feels happy there. His favourite subject is reading and science as he finds the teachers very good. So far, he has no challenges in learning. When he grows up, he wants to be a doctor as one of his uncles is one, and he finds it interesting. His favourite sport is “oware”, which is a traditional African strategy board game, often described as a "mind sport" because it emphasizes planning, calculation, memory, and tactics. At home he does his homework and helps with sweeping and washing the dishes. In the weekends he helps her mum with washing and folding the clothes and tides the rooms.
