Issa was born in 2006, he has been in our program since 2017. He is already in high school, in 10th grade (i.e. he started the first grade of the 3-year-old high school). None of his six siblings finished school, and two of the three little ones were taken to the countryside because the parents could not feed them. His father works at the animal farm, his mom sells charcoal. None of the parents went to school. Issa helps a lot at home, sells charcoal with his mom until 6 - 7 PM. Then he starts studying. He still loves football, his favourite team is still Real Madrid, his favourite player and role model is Cristiano Ronaldo. However, he has found a new sport he loves: he excels at karate, proudly recounting that he has won several competitions, including one that had a prize. When I told him that he could make it to the Olympics, he says with regret that Mali doesn't have a karate team. He does not want to be a football player anymore, he wants to be a doctor. He likes all science subjects: physics, chemistry, biology. He's a sensible, smiling, funny guy, he is well worth supporting!
