Feury Mbaye

Feury Mbaye, born in 2017, is a young girl growing up in a family with four children; she is the youngest. They live together with their extended family. Her father left school after grade 6, and her mother after grade 4. All of her siblings attend school and are able to help her with her studies. The father works as a tailor, and the mother sells ice on the street. Feury is shy around strangers, but at home she talks a lot and has a great deal of energy. She enjoys going to school, and mathematics is her favourite subject. According to her teachers, she talks a lot and especially enjoys physical education classes. She has many friends; they play games on a friend’s tablet or on her father’s phone. She plays hopscotch, enjoys drawing, and likes colouring books. She does not like dancing or singing. At home, she helps with cleaning. Her dream is to have a pink bag.
