IT education

IT education in Mali and Senegal is not part of the national curriculum, the children only know how to use a mobile phone, if there is one in the family. A computer, tablet, internet connection is just a wishful thinking for them.

In our partner school Chérifoula Private School IT education is given to the senior classes (7th grade and up), who learn the basics of computer use in 2 hours a week. The foundation pays for the IT teacher and the internet access since 2020.

In Ghana in class 4 students get their first IT lessons, but in many schools, due to the lack of resources, education is only theoretical. In Newill Academy in Koforidua the children have computers and laptops with internet access to learn and practice on.
